Course Overview

This course is designed for participants wishing to attain a qualification to meet workplace Health and Safety requirements where emergency care response is a duty of care. It is ideal for all parents and care givers and provides fundamental knowledge and skills to anyone working with individuals that suffer from asthma and/or severe allergic reactions. This program is approved by Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). Includes Asthma and Anaphylaxis Emergency Management.

Duration: 8am - 4:30pm plus pre-course study (2 hours); or 2 days full time; or Modules tailored to your workplace.

Mode of Delivery: 8.5 hours (face to face) plus approx. 2 hours pre-course assessment.

Reasonable Adjustment: FRA supports learners with recognised disabilities and makes adjustments, where possible, according to each individuals need. The level of adjustment required is determined on a case by case basis between FRA and the learner with a disability. FRA ensures any reasonable adjustment does not compromise the integrity of the competency standards.

Assessment will include: Written/Oral Questions, Practical Assessments & Scenario Based Assessments.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program your electronic Statement of Attainment will be emailed to you within 48 hours.

Units of Competency

HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID011 - Provide first aid

Re-Certification: We recommend that the units (HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency Life Support, HLTAID011 Provide first aid and HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting) be renewed every 3 years and the CPR component (including HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) be renewed every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.


Requirements

Entry Requirements: Nil.

USI: A USI (Unique Student Identifier) number is required for all accredited training in Australia. If you do not provide a USI number we may not be able to issue a Certificate/Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of training.

Pre-Course Requirements: The theory assessment components of this program must be completed prior to the face to face component. The completed assessments must be printed out and bought to class where it will be marked. You will need to allocate approx. 2 hours to complete this.

Physical Requirements: A level of fitness and stamina is required to complete the CPR practical assessment by spending extended periods of time on your knees at floor level.

Dress Code: Please wear closed in shoes and comfortable clothing to enable you to kneel down on the floor for extended periods of time.
